Groton wins opening game of State B Tournament

• Groton defeated Milbank, 7-3, to win its opening game of the State B American Legion baseball tournament being played in Milbank. Groton will play Vermillion at 8 p.m. tonight.
• In other first round games, Flandreau defeated Miner/McCook, 16-7, Vermillion defeated Corsica, 5-1; and Webster edged out Winner/Colome, 4-3.

• Groton started off with Kalen Kjellsen hitting a double on a 1-2 count and would later score on Matt Thorson single. With two outs, Dalton Locke was walked and then Ryan Delzer would hit a double to score Thorson. Groton took a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
• It was three up and three down for Milbank in the bottom of the first inning.
• Not much happened in the second inning as Eric May got on base via an error but ended up being stranded at first. Jamie Jorgensen would strike out two of the three batters in the bottom of the second. It was 2-0 after two innings.
• Locke was walked in the top of the third inning and
