U.S. Highway 12 Resurfacing Project between Groton and Bath

• ABERDEEN, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin installing traffic control devices on U.S. Highway 12 in the eastbound lanes between Bath and Groton on about Wednesday, June 20.
• The work is being done in preparation for the shifting of all Highway 12 traffic between Groton and Bath to a head-to-head configuration in the eastbound lanes on June 25.
• Once traffic has been re-routed to the eastbound lanes, the westbound lanes will be closed for concrete resurfacing, as well as guardrail updates and epoxy deck seals on bridges.
• Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures prior to June 20 as the contractor prepares for the upcoming project.
• A 12-foot width restriction will be in place during the project.
• Upper Plains Contracting Inc. of Aberdeen is the prime contractor on the $8.5 million project.
• The overall contract completion date is October 12, with the project limited to 75 weather working days once traffic has been shifted to the eastbound lanes.
