1995: An unusually strong cluster of thunderstorms (a derecho) raced at more than 70 mph through New York and New England during the early morning hours. Major wind damage occurred across the Adirondacks where thousands of trees were toppled. Three fatalities occurred. Winds reached 92 mph in Otis, MA and small tornadoes occurred at Greenfield and Huntington.

2003: It was the hottest night in history for a city known for its sizzling temperatures as the mercury in Phoenix, AZ managed to fall to only 96 degrees. The high that day was 115.

4-H Fashion Revue Show is tomorrow

The 2014 4-H Fashion Revue Show will be held at Primrose Retirement Community in the Community Room (Upstairs) on Wednesday, July 16th. There are 10 models modeling 12 stylish outfits. The theme for this year's Fashion Revue is, "Fashion Through the Decades." The Fashion Revue judging begins at 12:30 AM and will go until 2:00 PM.  At 3:00 PM, there will be a fashion show open to the public.  Anyone is welcome to come and watch.  There will be refreshments served after the show provided by Primrose.

Worship Resumes at Historic Church

Worship service will resume at the Trinity Historic Church in Groton at Third Ave. and Third Street. Service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday.  The service usually lasts about half an hour. You are invited to the service in the historic setting. Offering will be used to help maintain the church and to pay for insurance.
