Suspect arrested in death of Rapid City man

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Rapid City police have arrested a man in the death of another man found dead in an alley.
• Authorities arrested the 18-year-old suspect on Monday, a day after 47-year-old Myron Rock, of Rapid City, was found dead. Police say he appeared to have been badly beaten.
• An autopsy was scheduled later Monday to determine the cause of death.
• Authorities earlier detained the suspect and another man for questioning. They arrested the suspect on a murder charge.

Authorities ID girl who died in SD lake incident

• WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) -- Authorities have identified a 4-year-old girl who died after being pulled from a Watertown lake.
• Braelynn Erlandson, of Plankinton, died Friday at a hospital in Sioux Falls, a day after the incident at Lake Kampeska.
• Emergency crews were called to the lake shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday. The child was out of the water and being given CPR when crews arrived.
• She was taken to Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown and then flown to Sioux Falls, where she died.

South Dakota State Fair launches new website

• HURON, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota State Fair has launched a new website.
• Officials say the site at www.sdstatefair.com has an updated design and is easier for people to use. It includes information on the annual late-summer State Fair and on other events at the fairgrounds in Huron throughout the year.
• This year's State Fair is Aug. 28-Sept. 1.

School of Mines president fills spot on tech board

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota School of Mines & Technology President Heather Wilson has formally filled a new position created by the Legislature on the state Science and Technology Authority Board.
• The panel works with national labs, the Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation to promote scientific and technological investigations, experimentation and development in the state.
