SD Republican Party hires 2004 Thune consultant

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Republican Party has hired Dick Wadhams as senior political consultant leading up to the November election.
• He already has been working for the Mike Rounds Senate campaign for the past year.
• Wadhams is a Denver-based Republican political consultant who's best known in South Dakota for managing Sen. John Thune's 2004 campaign.

• Miles City woman claims $260K Wild Card jackpot
• HELENA, Mont. (AP) -- An eastern Montana woman has claimed the $260,000 Wild Card jackpot from the June 25 drawing.
• Montana Lottery officials say Dixie Rieger of Miles City claimed her winnings Monday. She bought her ticket at Albertsons in Miles City.
• Rieger says she's on medical leave from her hospital job and will use some of the money to pay medical bills. She also plans on doing some fun things with her winnings and saving the rest.
• Wild Card is played in Idaho, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. Wednesday's jackpot is $205,000.

Rain hangs over ND, SD after record weekend rains

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Wet weather stuck around in the Dakotas on Monday after a weekend of rainfall set records in both states and led to flash flooding that shut down roads in some areas.
• A severe thunderstorm watch was posted Monday for southeastern South Dakota, where a couple of weeks of wet weather have led to severe flooding. The possibility of more showers was in the forecast throughout the week, including on the Fourth of July.
• Minot in northern North Dakota got more than 2.6 inches of rain on Saturday, breaking a 62-year-old record for the date, according to the National Weather Ser
