Gay teen says restaurant gave him offensive tag

• YANKTON, S.D. (AP) -- An openly gay 16-year-old Yankton boy is accusing a fast food restaurant of forcing him to wear a name tag with a homophobic slur in front of customers.
• Tyler Brandt resigned from Taco John's on Tuesday. He says he kept the name tag as evidence, and he and his father are considering suing the restaurant for discrimination.
• Restaurant Manager John Scott says Brandt chose the slur himself as a nickname joke, and was not forced to wear the name tag.
• Officials with Taco John's International Inc. say they won't investigate the matter because franchise locations are independently owned and operated. But the company says it does not tolerate workplace harassment and that franchisees are required to have anti-discrimination policies.

Sioux Falls casino robbed at knifepoint

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Sioux Falls police are searching for a man who robbed a casino at knifepoint.
• Authorities say the man entered the Lucky Strike Casino Wednesday afternoon, displayed the weapon and demanded cash. The female clerk handed over an undetermined amount of money.
• The employee was not hurt.

SD water officials managing various funding pools

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Board of Water and Natural Resources is meeting to discuss the state's water project priorities and funding.
• The seven-member panel meets Thursday. It oversees state and federal funds from a variety of funding pools.
• Staff from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources will request authorization to seek investment banking services. This process only comes about every few years says Jim Feeney. He's the director of the division of financial and technical assistance.
• He says they seek bonds in this way when the need arises.
