The NWS Storm Prediction Center has highlighted two areas across the northern and southern Plains on Friday for severe weather. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary threats. Across portions of the western U.S., dangerous fire weather conditions continue to expand. In addition, dry lightning will be possible across the Southwest.

chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening...then showers and thunderstorms likely after midnight. Lows in the upper 50s. Southeast winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.
• Saturday: Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning...then showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 70s. Southeast winds 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.
• Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 50s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Sunday: Partly sunny with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 70s. West winds 10 to 20 mph.
