Tornado touches down outside Sioux Falls

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has confirmed a tornado has touched down outside the city.
• The weather service says the twister was spotted north of Canton around 4 p.m. Thursday during an isolated, but very strong thunderstorm. No injuries have been reported.
• The weather service says funnel clouds were spotted in at least two occasions as the system moved toward Sioux Falls.
• Pea- and marble-size hail hit the city and about an inch of rain accumulated within 20 minutes.
• A tornado warning is still in effect in the area east of Canton covering southwest Lyon County and northwest Sioux County in Iowa.

SD attorney general to lead national association

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has been elected to serve as the president-elect of the National Association of Attorneys General.
• Jackley will lead the group comprised of the attorneys general of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the territories of American Samoa, Guam, and the Virgin Islands.
• Jackley was selected to the position this week in Michigan.
• Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood is the current president and Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen has been elected to serve as vice president.
• Jackley says this role will help him identify and address issues that affect South Dakota.
