• South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard breezed to a Republican primary victory in his bid for a second full term in office. He topped lesser-known challenger former state Rep. Lora Hubbel of Sioux Falls. With no major opponent, Daugaard didn't have to dig deep into the $1.6 million he has amassed in his re-election campaign account.
• ___
• 3. WISMER, MYERS TO FACE DAUGAARD
• State Rep. Susan Wismer won the Democratic bid for South Dakota governor. Wismer defeated the former head of the state's wildfire agency, Joe Lowe. Wismer will face a tough challenge in November against popular Gov. Dennis Daugaard in a heavily Republican state. South Dakota hasn't elected a Democrat as governor since the 1974 election. Former University of South Dakota law professor Mike Myers is running for governor as an independent candidate.
• ___
• 4. SEVERE WEATHER
• The rain and thunderstorms that affected much of the state kept some voters from going to the polls. It also forced former South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds to change his election night plans. Rounds had started the day in Sioux Falls and was flying to Rapid City when a storm packing large hail prompted him to land in Pierre and stay there.
• ___
• 5. VOTER TURNOUT
• South Dakota Secretary of State Jason Gant said voter turnout in Tuesday's primary election was much lower than the 50 percent he had predicted. Gant said bad weather that hit much of the state was one of the culprits that kept voters away from the polls. He said voters might have also stayed home because they assumed that the front-runners were going to win.

• Bosworth responded: "Well, that's news to me. I didn't know that."
• Kelly asked, "Really?" and Bosworth responded, "I didn't, no. So, I found out on national television."
• Former Gov. Rounds beat four other candidates to earn the GOP's nomination
