Gonsoir receives AQHA Scholarship

• Local American Quarter Horse enthusiast, Joellen Gonsoir or Groton, has recently been named as an American Quarter Horse Foundation Scholarship Recipient. The Foundation's Scholarship Program awards outstanding members for their dedication to higher education. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, financial need, references and participation in equine-related

activities. Gonsoir is the 18 year old daughter of Tim and AQHA Professional Kristen Gonsoir and will be attending the University of Minnesota Crookston this fall majoring in Agricultural Business and Communications.
• As a recipient of the AQHF Youth Scholarship Gonsoir has been involved in FFA on the local, state, and national level, earning national awards in public speaking and horse judging.  She is also an active member of 4-H where she has represented South Dakota at the National 4-H Western Roundup the past three years where in 2012 she was named Reserve National Horse Demonstration Champion, in 2013 10th place individual in Horse Quiz Bowl, and in 2014 Reserve National Champion Horse Judger. In 2011 she won numerous world titles at the Foundation Quarter Horse World Roundup. In high school she participated in debate, oral interp, and student government and was a National Honor Society member and President's Education Scholar. She is also an avid dancer and will graduate from the Living Art Dance Studio in June.
