Five Middle School Students
Selected for All-State Band

•The 15th annual Middle School All-State Band was held at the Pierre Riggs High School Theater on February 28-March 1.  The students auditioned on a variety of scales and etudes and are selected by a panel of judges.
• Representing Groton this year from left to right:  Kaitlyn Kassube-Clarinet, Lexie Gustafson-Trumpet, Tylan Glover-Percussion, Emily Thompson-Percussion and Kylie Kassube-Clarinet.  The students had the opportunity to perform with other outstanding musicians from throughout the state.
• Kylie and Lexie received the highest scores in the state on their specific instruments.  They had the honor of being placed in first chair positions in the clarinet and trumpet sections.
• The students are divided into two bands depending on their audition score.  All of the Groton students were placed in the Honor Band which is comprised of the students with the highest scores in the state.  The Honor Band was under the direction of Robert Sheldon.
• This was a wonderful opportunity for the students.  The directors and students would like to thank the school, community and families for their continued support.
