• The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop report that the cool conditions have slowed rangeland growth and delayed the movement of cattle to summer pastures.
• About one-third of the state's soybean crop and three-fourths of the corn crop is planted, both ahead of the average pace. Spring wheat seeding still lags a bit behind the average, at 83 percent done. Sunflower seeding is just getting underway.
• The Yankton Daily Press & Dakotan reports that Bon Homme and Hutchinson counties have lifted burn bans because of the recent rainfall.

Sioux Falls broker sentenced for $20 million scam

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A Sioux Falls broker has been sentenced to nine years in prison for scamming more than 100 investors out of a total of more than $20 million.
• Sixty-six-year-old Randal Hansen was convicted in federal court of 26 felony fraud charges. U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says in addition to his prison sentence, Hansen also must spend three years on supervised release, pay $2,600 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund and pay restitution to be determined later.

SD grandmother sentenced in grandson's death

• PINE RIDGE, S.D. (AP) -- A Pine Ridge woman accused of causing the death of her infant grandson has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.
• Fifty-one-year-old Cheryl Jealous of Him initially faced a murder charge in the April 2013 death of a 17-month-old boy in Pine Ridge. U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Jealous of Him was caring for the boy and beat him while drunk.
• She was convicted of felony child abuse and neglect. Johnson says she will be on supervised release for three years following her prison term, and will have to pay nearly $14,000 in restitution to the South Dakota Crime Victims' Compensation Program.

Sioux Falls apartment fire deemed suspicious

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Authorities say a fire that displaced residents of a Sioux Falls apartment building is suspicious.
• No one was hurt in the blaze reported about 10:15 p.m. Monday. It took firefighters only about 15 minutes to knock down the flames, but smoke spread throughout the three-story building. The Red Cross set up an overnight shelter for residents.
