• Mount Marty's Board of Trustees will quickly name an interim president and come up with a plan for hiring a successor, said Sister Penny Bingham, prioress of Sacred Heart Monastery and a college board member.
• "We thank Dr. Benoit for the work done during his three years at the college and we wish him and his family well," she said in a statement.
• Mount Marty has about 600 students on its main campus in Yankton, and another 500 students at facilities in Watertown and Sioux Falls.

Rapid City gets tougher on strip club rules
• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Private dances at Rapid City's lone strip club will soon be not so private under a measure backed by church officials.
• The City Council voted unanimously Monday night to revise the city's adult-oriented business ordinance, requiring that there be an unobstructed view of private dance rooms. That means Shotgun Willies, the lone strip club in town, will have to remove a swinging half-door leading into a private dance area.
• "I can't imagine that anyone on either side of the issue ... would attempt to make a case of adult-oriented businesses being a benefit in strengthening private families," said Dale Bartscher, executive director of the Family Heritage Alliance.
• Shotgun Willies owner Aaron Johnson did not comment on Monday night. He has said the city is taking potshots at his business. Last week he unsuccessfully suggested the city allow cameras to monitor activity behind the door.
• The club was cited five times in 2013 and once this year for violating the adult-oriented business ordinance. The city imposed a three-day suspension of Shotgun Willies' adult cabaret license in February.
• The alleged violations included dancers taking money from or making physical contact with customers while partially nude. Johnson has maintained that he can't be held responsible for the actions of dancers who essentially lease his club's stage and are not employed by him.
• Under the code revisions, Johnson will be assumed to have "implied knowledge" of any violations that occur in the club. The revisions also spell out an appeals process to prevent an arbitrary revocation of a business license.
