• "To achieve the proposed PE standards in South Dakota, the teachers for physical education and health must be given the appropriate time in the school day, school week and each semester of every school year to accomplish this," Bonsness said. "Our current statistics regarding time requirements for physical education and activity in schools correlates with the increasing decline in health we are seeing in our children."
• The board plans to hold two more hearings before taking action on the standards.

Settlement funds SD behavioral health initiatives

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Attorney General Marty Jackley says South Dakota is using its share of a large multistate settlement with a drug company to fund behavioral health initiatives.
• Jackley and attorneys general in 35 other states in April 2012 reached a $200 million settlement with Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. over allegations it marketed anti-psychotic drugs for non-approved uses.
• Janssen did not admit wrongdoing, but it agreed not to promote the drugs for off-label use or make misleading claims.
• South Dakota's share of the settlement was just under $2.6 million. Jackley on Monday said the money is funding treatment, education, training and outreach programs.
• The state Consumer Protection Division and Department of Social Services determined the funding uses.

Wild Card 2 ticket sold in Rapid City worth $6,000

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota lottery officials say a Wild Card 2 ticket sold in Rapid City is worth $6,000 in Saturday's drawing.
• The ticket matched all five white ball numbers but missed the Wild Card to win the game's second prize. The odds of doing so are 1 in about 127,000.
• The winner has about six months to claim the money.
• Wild Card 2 is played in the Dakotas, Montana and Idaho. The jackpot is at $210 for the Wednesday drawing.
