Just Two Weeks Left to Register for Leadership South Dakota

• The South Dakota Community Foundation, in partnership with Dakota Educational Consulting, is launching a new education and training program called Leadership South Dakota. The group is recruiting 26 participants from across the state for its inaugural class and is also accepting nominations for participants. The nomination and registration deadline is Friday, May 30, 2014 and several spots are still available. Interested candidates may apply online at www.LeadershipSouthDakota.com. Financial assistance is available and can be noted on the application.
• Leadership South Dakota will provide class members with the background information, unique experiences and insights necessary to assume leadership positions at the community, state and national levels. The group will meet in a variety of locations across the state for seven weekend classes:
September 2014 in Brookings focusing on agriculture, our state's number one industry.
October 2014 in Rapid City where the main topic will be tourism and natural resources.
November 2014 in Pierre to go behind-the-scenes of state government.
January 2015 in Kyle to discuss Native American history and culture.
February 2015 in Sioux Falls to explore health and financial services.
March 2015 in Aberdeen to cover education, manufacturing and technology.
April 2015 in Chamberlain for presentation of research projects and program graduation.
• Rick Melmer, director for the program, says Leadership South Dakota is looking for a diverse group of participants from across South Dakota who represent a wide variety of professions and backgrounds. Individuals selected for the program will be trained through:
