Sioux Falls standoff ends after nearly 8 hours

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A nearly eight-hour standoff in Sioux Falls ended peacefully when the suspect surrendered to SWAT team members.
• Police say the 25-year-old man wanted on felony drug charges fled from officers and barricaded himself in a home Wednesday evening. Several streets in the area were closed to traffic while authorities surrounded the residence.
• The man surrendered without incident shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday. Police said they had considered him armed and dangerous but they did not say if he actually had a weapon.
• No injuries were reported.

Reward offered in case of bald eagle killed in SD

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- State and federal wildlife officials are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever shot and killed a young bald eagle in far northeastern South Dakota.
• The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, and Parks say the protected bird was shot about six miles northeast of New Effington sometime around May 3.
• Authorities say people with information can remain anonymous. The amount of the reward would depend on the quality of the information provided.

Black Hills planned community now selling lots

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- A planned community in the Black Hills of South Dakota now has some of its lots for sale.
• Powder House Pass is the second "Community Improvement District" in the state and operates as its own municipality.
• The other such community is Dakota Dunes. It is located in the southeastern portion of the state.
• Powder House Pass is located south of Lead and Deadwood. It has paved roads, electricity, sewer service as well as cable and cellphone service.
• It is being marketed as a place for a vacation or retirement homes in "a classy rustic environment."
