Bald Eagle Shot Near New Effington, South Dakota

• The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, and Parks are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the shooting of an immature bald eagle approximately four miles north and two miles east of New Effington, South Dakota. The eagle was shot just west of the intersection of Roberts county road 25 and county road 8. The eagle was shot on or before May 3, 2014.
• Bald Eagles are protected by both federal and state law, including the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.
