The Life of Bobbie Larson

• Memorial services for Bobbie J. "Bob" Larson, of Britton and formerly of Amherst will be 2 p.m., Sunday, May 4 at Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.  Rev. Tom Haggar will officiate.  Burial will be at a later date Union Cemetery, Groton.
• Bob died May 1, 2014 at Avera St. Lukes in Aberdeen at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving wife and other family members.
• Bobbie Julian Larson was born on September 22, 1931 in Langford, SD to Emil and Florence (Borchers) Larson.  Bob attended country school and Claremont High School, graduating in 1949.  He met his bride-to-be, Clarice Elaine

Brant of Groton while attending Methodist Church camp at Lake Pointsett in the summer of 1948 when they were juniors in High School.  They dated after that and were married June 4, 1950 at the Methodist Church in Groton.  They lived and farmed in the Claremont and Amherst areas for 30 years raising hogs.  In June of 1981, they moved to the Willcox, Arizona area and returned to Groton in the spring of 2010.  He became a resident of Aberdeen Health and Rehab and moved to Wheatcrest Hills at Britton in February of 2012.
• Bob was a gifted natural born carpenter and built many of the buildings on his parent's farm near Claremont, as well as the home he and his family lived in for 30 plus years.  He was awarded South Dakota Master Pork Producer of the year in 1964.  Bob, along with his dad received the first place Brown County Soil Conservation award in 1956.  He also served on the Amherst School Board and township board for several years. 
• Celebrating his life is his wife of nearly 64 years, Clarice, his children, Alan Larson (Deb Thorsness) of Gwinner, ND; Kathy (Marty) Binger of Lake City; Larry Larson of  Lubbock, TX; Douglas Larson of Elk Point; Karen Larson of Aberdeen; Robert "Rob" Larson of Pearce, AZ; Nancy Gaethje of Page, AZ, 12 grandchildren: Toscha (Ben) Larson,  Tiffany (Ryan) Hammerick, Tahra (Bill) Doll, Katie Beth Larson, Miranda Larson, Waylon Binger, Lucas (Shari) Binger, Jeff (Ali Gould) Larson, Daphinie (Shawn) Lidgaard, Jennifer Larson, Robbie Larson, Hannah Gaethje, 4 step-grandchildren: Aimee (Dan) Sarbaum, Josh Haring, John Herron, Melissa Durham,  9 great-grandchildren: Jacob & Ava Larson, Dietrich & Colton Hammerick, Pierce Doll, Brylee Binger, Ethan, Gage & Madison Lidgaard,   6 step-great-grandchildren: Jaylyn & Rylan Sarbaum, Kyrie Haring, Shawn, Shane and Shay Durham, his brother, Dean (Dorothy) Larson of Pierpont, three sisters, Janet (Jim) Drewitz of Fairbault, MN; Lylia (Don) Miller of Aberdeen; Diane (Stuart) Eberhart of Britton and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
• Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant son, Craig Alan Larson in 1959 and three daughters-in-law: Becky Larson, Bonnie Larson and Victoria Larson.
