SD man sentenced to prison for child sexual abuse

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Authorities say an Eagle Butte man has been sentence to 11 years and three months in prison for child sexual abuse.
• U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says 28-year-old Daniel Briggs was convicted on Monday of abusive sexual contact with a child.
• Authorities say Briggs' conviction is the result of an incident that occurred between December 2010 and December 2012, when Briggs was living with the victim's mother.
• Authorities say the child was between the ages of 3 and 5 years old when the sexual abuse occurred.

SD reopens incentives for rural health care

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Health care facilities in rural parts of South Dakota can now apply for $10,000 incentives from the state to attract employees.
• The $10,000 goes to employees who have spent three years in communities with less than 10,000 people.
• Funding for the incentives is split between the state and the health care employer. Facilities in smaller communities pay a smaller share.
• The Rural Healthcare Facility Recruitment Assistance Program is part of a state initiative that began in 2012.
• Gov. Dennis Daugaard says it's tough for rural areas to recruit health professionals. The program has offered incentives in 49 towns in the state to dietitians, nurses and occupational therapists and other professionals.
• Applications are available through the state Department of Health.

Trial moved for Pierre teen in classmate's death

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The trial of a Pierre teenager accused of fatally shooting a classmate has been moved by a judge after the defense argued he couldn't get a fair trial.
• Braiden McCahren, 17, will go on trial for murder on June 2 in Winner, about 100 miles south of Pierre, after Circuit Judge John Brown approved the change of
