Columbia Bus Route to be altered on Thursday

• Thursday is the day when the Columbia bus route will change due to the bridge taken out south of Columbia. Superintendent Joe Schwan reported to the school board members Monday night that letters were sent out on Friday to the patrons of Route #5 indicating the new pick-up times. The first pickup will be at 6:45 a.m., but Schwan said the only consolation is that the students is an older student and does not always ride the bus. Work on the bridge is expected to be done by October 1, but the board is skeptical about that date.
• A number of program review presentations were given at the board meeting.
• Lynette Grieve gave a report on the physical education  program that she teaches at the elementary school.
• Brian Schuring talked about the objectives of the physical education classes in the upper level of the elementary school. He reported that the third, fourth and fifth grade students raised just under $4,000 for Hoops for Heart. He also teaches classes for sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grade.
