•  Our journey throughout the year has been great!  We have become familiar with what is expected of us at school and are getting a firm foundation to start out next year as Kindergarteners.  We are very excited and can't wait for more fun to begin in the fall.

1st Grade ~ Emily Eichler & Shauna Remily
We can't believe the end of the year is fast approaching!  We all reached our classroom AR goal of 10 points and many have reached the 15 point goal.  One student has surpassed that goal and reached our super goal of 70 points!  Our goal for the rest of the year is to challenge ourselves by reading harder books.
•  In reading class we are working hard on increasing our reading fluency as well as our comprehension.  Our big project right now is working on writing a letter to our favorite author.  The students chose their favorite author and did research to find information about that person.  We are in the process of writing a letter to them.  In our letter we give some information about ourselves, what we love most about their books, and even give suggestions for their next book.  We can't wait to see if we get a letter back from them in the future!
•  In math class we have spent most our time using dimes, nickels, and pennies to show money amounts.  We are just learning how to make change for a dollar.  One of the biggest things we have learned is to add double digits using multiple strategies.  This is a big skill to learn and it has been challenging, but they are doing a great job.  We love our math curriculum because of the multiple methods the students are shown to solve one problem.  The way we solve math problems can vary from person to person and it's great that our curriculum allows that.
•  The students have really enjoyed science class and are currently learning about weather.  Our student teacher, Miss Edelman has many experiments and activities for us to learn about the different kinds of weather.
•  In Social Studies the students learning about "The Marketplace".  We will learn about goods and services, needs and wants, and saving and spending money.
• The rest of our school year will be spent working primarily on continuing our reading and math skills.  We will also review the skills we have learned so far this year in preparation for 2nd grade!  We are SO PROUD of all the accomplishments our students have made this year.  Happy Spring!

3rd Grade ~ Kristi Anderson & Deb Winburn
•
We are much relieved that spring has arrived, even if there are a few squalls now and then.
• We know it is spring inside the classroom due to many telltale signs: students
