2 armed robberies reported in Sioux Falls casinos

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Police in Sioux Falls say two armed robberies were reported at casinos this weekend and the descriptions of the robbers were "very similar."
• Police say officers responded to a report of a robbery around 11:50 p.m. Saturday at the Aces Casino and shortly after were dispatched to the Connexions Casino.
• Authorities say the suspect left the first casino before being able to obtain anything of value. The robber was able to flee the second facility with an undisclosed amount of cash before police arrived.
• The suspect is described as a Native American or Hispanic male, approximately 5 foot 7 inches tall, medium build with a dark parka, dark pants and armed with a handgun.
• Police say anyone with information on the robberies should contact Crimestoppers at 605-367-7007.

Entertainers can apply to perform at state fair

• HURON, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota entertainers can start applying to be part of this year's Centennial Stage shows at the state fair in Huron.
• The fair and entertainer Sherwin Linton are looking for people of all genres and styles.
• Linton has performed at the fair since the early 1970's and been an advocate for South Dakota entertainers.
• Applications are due into the fair by June 15.

Tribal Relations head: Time on reservations is key

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota's first Tribal Relations secretary said he spent his time building relationships, and that's what his successor will have to do to encourage more cooperation between the state government and the nine tribes.
• J.R. LaPlante has taken a job as an assistant U.S. attorney in Sioux Falls, three years after Gov. Dennis Daugaard established the Department of Tribal Relations.
• Coalition building is imperative to the position, he said.
