Strong and gusty southeast winds, as well as scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms, will occur ahead of an approaching low pressure system today. There will then be a break in the action before additional showers and thunderstorm move from west to east across the region with the passage of a cold front. Thursday, strong and gusty northwest winds, along with drier air in place over the region, may result in extreme fire danger.
