Free admission to Groton baseball complex

The Groton City Council decided Monday night to allow free-will donations this year to the Groton Baseball Complex for baseball and softball games. Mayor Scott Hanlon said he would like to see more attendance at the games and said that he hopes the free-will donation will help spark interest in the baseball and softball programs. Also, the girls softball fees to play were lowered to $30 and they will get their own t-shirts. While there will be a loss of revenue, there will also be a savings of not having a gate keeper.
• Justin Hanson was hired as a teener coach, Patrick Krause has been transferred from the public works department to the baseball complex and will be the head junior teener coach and will assist in other duties as well and Nick Weber was hired as the midget coach after Mason Madsen resigned. Weber will be here until July 1. Travis Kurth was hired as the baseball coordinator to help with set-up and scheduling only.
