Nelson raises more than $28K during first quarter

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- State Rep. Stace Nelson of Fulton raised more than $28,400 for his campaign for a U.S. Senate seat during the first three months of 2014.
• Nelson's Federal Election Commission report shows he spent just under $28,800 during the quarter ending March 31, leaving him cash on hand of slightly more than $33,400. His report showed no campaign debt.
• Nelson is one of five Republicans seeking the nomination for the seat being vacated by the retiring Sen. Tim Johnson. Also seeking the GOP nod are former Gov. Mike Rounds, state Sen. Larry Rhoden of Union Center, Sioux Falls physician Annette Bosworth and Yankton attorney and soldier Jason Ravnsborg.
• Rick Weiland is the sole Democratic candidate, and former Republican U.S. Sen. Larry Pressler is running as an independent.

Bosworth's campaign says she raised $772K in 1Q

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The campaign for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Annette Bosworth says she raised slightly more than $772,000 during the first three months of 2014.
• Patrick Davis with Bosworth's campaign says in an email that Bosworth spent nearly $674,000 during the quarter, and the campaign had about $348,000 cash on hand as of March 31.
• Bosworth, a Sioux Falls physician, is one of five Republicans seeking the nomination for the seat being vacated by the retiring Sen. Tim Johnson. Also seeking the GOP nod are former Gov. Mike Rounds, state Rep. Stace Nelson of Fulton, state Sen. Larry Rhoden of Union Center and Yankton attorney and soldier Jason Ravnsborg.

Police arrest man in death of Sioux Falls woman

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Police in eastern South Dakota say they have arrested a man in the death of a Sioux Falls woman.
• Authorities say officers and emergency services were called to a home for a 53-year-old woman who sustained fatal injuries at a home Wednesday afternoon.
• Police say witnesses saw a man leave the home and were able to get a license
