points. Schwan said there were no issues or safety concern with the food at the elementary school. The high school had a score of 97. There was a one-point deduction each for a gasket problem with a freezer, a light shield issue in a storage room and a hole in the wall in the dish area. "Ninety-seven is a good score," Schwan said. "Eighty-eight needs to get fixed."
• A bridge is coming out south of Columbia starting May 1 and that is going to create a busing problem for that area. The bridge is expected to be out of commission until at least October 1. "That bridge cuts our route in half," Schwan said. He said that there will be a 25-minute detour and that route is already having problems making it to school on time. They may have to run two busses up there. Schwan said they thought they had a good alternate just south of the bridge, but the township is posting no trucks or buses on their roads and will not allow the district to use that road. The earliest pickup now is at 6:50 a.m. A decision will be made at the next school board meeting.
• The board approved the bid from RDO for a new mower for a net cost of $9,000. The other bid was from Green Iron of Marshall County for $11,000.
• Cory Harder was hired as the head girls soccer coach for the 2014-15 school year.
• Brett Schwan will be a volunteer assistant football coach for the 2014
