SD lawmaker withdraws Bosworth petition challenge

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- A state representative has withdrawn a court challenge over the validity of signatures submitted by Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Annette Bosworth.
• The Pierre Capital Journal reported (http://bit.ly/1kYeoSf ) that Republican Rep. Steve Hickey of Sioux Falls filed an affidavit asking the Hughes County Court to require Secretary of State Jason Gant to not accept the petitions.
• But Hickey withdrew the affidavit Monday after finding out it would not be addressed until after ballots were printed.
• Hickey told The Associated Press that once the timeframe guaranteed Bosworth's name would be on the ballot, the challenge became a moot point.
• Political blogger Cory Heidelberger recently filed an affidavit with Gant's office questioning some of Bosworth's signatures. Gant ruled the challenge unsuccessful, but Heidelberger said Gant failed to address all the concerns.

Wild Card 2 ticket sold in Sisseton worth $6,001

• SISSETON, S.D. (AP) -- A Wild Card 2 ticket sold in the northeastern South Dakota city of Sisseton is worth $6,001 in the latest drawing.
• Lottery officials say the ticket matched all five white ball numbers but missed the Wild Card to win the game's second prize in Saturday's drawing. The odds of winning it are 1 in about 127,000.
• The ticket also won another dollar on another play line. The winner has about six months to claim the money.
• Wild Card 2 is played in the Dakotas, Montana and Idaho. The jackpot is at $515,000 for the next drawing, on Wednesday.

Southeast SD wildfire burns 1.5 square miles

• TABOR, S.D. (AP) -- No one was hurt and no structures were damaged when a controlled burn at a Hutterite colony in southeastern South Dakota ended up scorching 1 ½ square miles of land.
• Tabor Fire Chief Ken Carda says he gave the Bon Homme Colony permission to burn tree piles on Friday. The fire burned out of control, and five area fire departments and a state wildfire team eventually were called in.
• The fire was out by Saturday evening, and officials monitored the area for flare-
