Capital Outlay budget looks good

• During the review of the Capital Outlay budget, it was pointed out by Business Manager Mike Weber that in the past five years, the district has collected 101 percent of its budget, and has spent 94 percent of its budget. Weber said the board could go 7 percent over its budget if needed.
• There are sinking spots in the Arena parking lot which would cost $17,000 to repair. Filling the cracks in the southeast parking lot would be $2,800 and for the elementary school would be $2,750.
• Superintendent Joe Schwan reported on the increase in state aid to K-12 education. The state legislature gave a 3.35 percent increase in funding which results in total of $4,781 per student. Schwan said that Groton is in the middle of a two-year contract which reflects a larger increase than 3.35 percent, so it could create an interesting situation for Groton.
• The school food service program had an inspection at both the elementary and high school buildings. The elementary school had a score of 88 out of 100. Two books were not where they were suppose to be at which resulted in a deduct of 10
