Mayor-Elect Hanlon in record
voter turn-out

• Scott Hanlon will complete the rest of the three-year term as Groton's Mayor after winning the election on Tuesday. There are two years left in the term vacated by the late Roy Olson. Incumbent David McGannon won in Ward 2 and Burt Glover defeated incumbent Gary Heitmann by 15 votes in Ward 3.
• Meanwhile in Ward 1, David Blackmun, Jr., ran unopposed for Councilman's Clare Brotherton's seat. Brotherton did not seek re-election.
• According to Finance Officer Anita Lowary, 413 voters came to the polls resulting in a 44.2 percent voter turn-out. She said that beat the old record of 37 percent.
