$1M gift going to new state fair 4-H hall in Huron

• HURON, S.D. (AP) -- An effort to raise money for a new 4-H exhibit hall on the state fairgrounds in Huron is getting a big financial boost.
• The South Dakota State Fair Foundation said it will announce next week who donated $1 million toward the $4 million project.
• The announcement will be made April 15 at the Beadle County Department of Health building in Huron.
• The new hall will feature multiple classrooms, a large kitchen for 4-H special foods competitions, year-round concessions and a performance stage.
• The old Clover Hall that was built in the 1950s has been demolished to make way for the new building.
• The state said in November that $1.5 million had been raised.

Sioux Falls calling artists to design AED signs

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The city of Sioux Falls is calling artists to submit designs for signs that would help increase the visibility of automatic external defibrillators located in public areas across the city.
• Artists who submit a proposal will participate in a contest coordinated by Rural/Metro Ambulance and Sioux Falls Fire Rescue. The top prize is $500.
• The contest is designed to increase the public's awareness of the locations of 10 automatic external defibrillators. The designs will be turned into vinyl prints that will be placed around the defibrillator locations in Sioux Falls.
• People of all ages are eligible to participate. Artists have until May 19 to submit a design.

AG can't intervene on Senate candidate's challenge

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says he has no oversight powers over the validity of signatures submitted by Republican Senate candidate Dr. Annette Bosworth.
• Jackley on Monday said he could only intervene in an existing challenge to the signatures if the issue is taken to court.
• Secretary of State Jason Gant has certified Bosworth's petition to appear on the ballot for the GOP U.S. Senate primary.
• Political activist Cory Heidelberger recently filed an affidavit with Gant's office
