State parks taking July 4 weekend reservations

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- It's a sign that summer can't be far away.
• The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department says reservations are now being taken for campsites and cabins on the Fourth of July weekend.
• To arrive on Wednesday, July 2, reservations open Thursday.
• The state says because it's a holiday weekend, bookings that include any of the dates of July 3-6 require at least a three-night stay.
• Arrangements for campsites and cabins can be made as many as 90 days before arrival, except at Custer State Park, which accepts reservations one year out.

Fire meteorologist to present SD wildfire outlook

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- A fire meteorologist in South Dakota is scheduled to present the state's wildfire outlook for 2014.
• Darren Clabo with the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology on Thursday will discuss the expected weather conditions for the 2014 wildfire season within South Dakota and the Rocky Mountain region.
• Clabo will present the outlook at 3 p.m. at the school in Rapid City.

SD website to help set kids up with special camps

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota has launched a website with information on career camps around the state this summer.
• The camps range from health care topics to construction and business.
• Gov. Dennis Daugaard says it's important for students to learn about in-demand skills before they commit to careers and college. He says there's demand in the state for workers in the areas of information technology, engineering, manufacturing and health care.
• Students can go to "Health Camp" for four days in July at South Dakota State
