the American flag.  Thank you so much to these two ladies for bringing each of our students their own flag!  How exciting!
• Another fun group came to our classrooms in March-they were the FFA students.  We loved seeing all their tractors!  They also taught us how to be safe on a farm and they came to our rooms to play a farm bingo game and a farm version of Jenga!  We loved it and we are much smarter about farm safety too!  Thank you, Mr. Franken and all the FFA students.
• Math has been very busy.  With the new Common Core Standards, Kindergarten is now required to learn our numbers to 40!  So we have been counting, counting, counting!  We also had a chapter on measurement and now we have started the chapter on time.  We are learning morning, afternoon and evening, also first, next and last.  We will be ready for 1st grade soon!
• We started the month of March by making rainbows complete with a pot of gold-using a lot of gold glitter of course!  We also found green footprints in our classroom and at the end of the prints were bags of gold.  Each child got to take home their very own piece of gold!  Leprechauns can be very tricky!
• In Science we are learning about our anatomy.  We are learning about all the organs in our torso.  We learned that our heart pumps the blood and our lungs can hold as much air as a basketball!  Wow.  We also have the stomach, liver, intestines and kidneys to learn about.   We are learning our body is beautiful!  We need to remember to take good care of our bodies.  We even made a pledge to keep our lungs healthy by never smoking when we grow up.
• Read, read, read!  Each night the Kindergarten students read short stories to their families.  Thank you, parents!  Keep up the good work!  There is a strong correlation between the amount of time practicing reading and a child's success.  We thank you- and your child thanks you!
• We are looking forward to spring!  We are anxious for spring jackets and no more snow pants or boots!  Happy Spring from Kindergarten.

• 2nd Grade - Jane Kroll and Anne Zoellner
The second graders have been busy bees in their classroom.  We have been fortunate to have some visitors this last month.  We had some FFA students visit.  They taught our students all about the importance of farm safety.  The students thoroughly enjoyed their presentation.
• In a couple of weeks the students will be taking the SAT 10 test to help prepare them for the Dakota Step test next year.  This will be a new and exciting experience for the students.
•  In Reading class, they have been reading stories that revolve around the theme:
