• Meade County's growth could be affected by some anomalies. The Census Bureau missed entire blocks of the county in 2010, Aker said, and the new numbers could be picking up those residents. And the conversion of Ellsworth Air Force Base housing in Box Elder to regular community housing could be adding new residents missed in prior censuses, he said.
• In Piedmont, the school district is looking at building a new middle school and the area will eventually need a high school, as students currently have to drive to Sturgis or Rapid City.
• "It's a real problem for the community because all our kids are driving quite a distance to do any activities," he said. "We're also not getting the community feeling you get from having a high school that's local."

Adult, 2 students to return to SD after SUV crash

• McLAUGHLIN, S.D. (AP) -- A staff member and two students from a South Dakota school who were involved in a crash in Colorado are expected to return to their homes Thursday.
• Five students and two adults were involved in an accident Monday when a sport utility vehicle that belongs to the McLaughlin School District hit ice and rolled at least twice.
• McLaughlin's Elementary School principal says various groups have started raising funds for the victims. McLaughlin is on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation that straddles the South Dakota-North Dakota border.
• Twenty-six-year-old Kyle Henderson, of Box Elder, was driving the SUV when the incident occurred. Authorities say he was the only one wearing a seat belt.
• The Colorado State Patrol says the other victims are three 13-year-old girls, two 14-year-old girls and a 26-year-old woman.

Board OKs plan for nursing college to join NDSU

• FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- The North Dakota Board of Higher Education has approved a plan for North Dakota State University to take over the Sanford College of Nursing.
