SDSU women advance to WNIT quarterfinals

• BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota State University women's basketball team will host Indiana on Sunday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Women's National Invitation Tournament.
• The Jackrabbits downed Minnesota 70-62 on Thursday night to advance. Steph Paluch led SDSU with 17 points, six assists and five rebounds.
• SDSU's home win streak is at 20 games. The Jackrabbits are coming into Sunday's game with 25-9 overall record. Indiana is 21-12.
• SDSU says its ticket office will have extended hours this weekend in preparation for the game.

Thief quickly abandons SUV with toddler inside

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Rapid City police say a thief who took a sport utility vehicle with a 1-year-old girl inside abandoned the SUV within a few blocks.
• Authorities say the girl's mother left her inside the vehicle Thursday when she went into a laundry business, and someone took the SUV. The frantic mother reported the theft, and police found the vehicle about 10 minutes later. The girl was unharmed.
• Police say the mother will not face any charges.

Attorney general warns of wire transfer scam

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Attorney General Marty Jackley is warning businesses to be wary of a fraudulent wire transfer scam.
• The scam targeted a South Dakota company with an email exchange that appeared to be within the company's own network, and ended with an attempted fraudulent wire transfer. The company's corporate controller received an email from what was believed to be the company's chief financial officer.
• The email contained an email chain showing a conversation authorizing a wire transfer from the chief executive officer to the chief financial officer. A fraudulent domain name just slightly different from the legitimate domain name was used.
• Internal company procedures prevented the wire transfer.
• Jackley says individuals can no longer assume that emails are completely safe
