• Rosebud Chairman Cyril Scott wrote in his request to the Shakopee tribe that some tribal members were in "dire need" of propane and called it a "crisis situation."
• Wizipan Little Elk, CEO of the tribe's economic development corporation, said about 2,000 homes on the reservation rely on propane. Tribal officials went into communities several times over the winter to check on residents, he said.
• The tribe last fall started its own propane supply company and stocked up on the fuel before the winter, so it was able to keep prices lower than other suppliers. However, the company ran out of propane for three days earlier this month, and residents had to turn to other suppliers.
• "It wasn't a fun time to start a propane business, with the national crisis going on," Little Elk said. "But we managed."

Police chase starts in WY, ends in SD; 2 arrested

• SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) -- Two Florida residents were taken into custody after a police chase that began in Wyoming and ended in South Dakota.
• The Wednesday night incident began when a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper stopped a vehicle west of Sundance. Authorities say the vehicle fled but eventually was stopped by troopers across the South Dakota border near Spearfish.
• The two people in the vehicle were arrested on traffic and drug charges in South Dakota. Wyoming authorities also are citing them for traffic-related offenses. The 35-year-old woman and 25-year-old man are from Lakeland, Fla.

Fire damages grain elevator in SD town of Howard

• HOWARD, S.D. (AP) -- No injuries have been reported in a fire that damaged a grain elevator in the southeastern South Dakota town of Howard.
• The fire broke out late Thursday in a wood-frame bin. About three dozen firefighters had the blaze extinguished by Friday morning.
• Fire Chief Nathan Ruml says two of five buildings on the complex were affected.
• There was no immediate word on a cause, or a damage estimate.
