SF Washington wins at state AA

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Sioux Falls Washington's Brett Stanley had 26 points as the Warriors beat Pierre 63-50 in the first round of the South Dakota Class AA boys basketball tournament on Thursday.
• The Warriors (14-11) shot 51 percent from the field, while Stanley was 12-for-19. Deng Geu had 12 points and Austin Heins led Washington with nine rebounds.
• Pierre (19-5) struggled from the field, shooting just 32 percent. The Governors trailed 33-22 at the break and never made a run after that.
• Erin Severyn had four 3-pointers and 16 points for Pierre and Brevin Kaiser added 12 points.

Potter County rallies past Faith at state B

• ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) -- Potter County outscored Faith 30-16 in fourth quarter Thursday to beat Faith 61-58 in the first round of the South Dakota Class B boys basketball tournament.
• The Battlers (22-2) trailed 39-31 heading into the fourth quarter.
• Four Potter County players reached double figures, led by Kole Hawkinson and Caleb Meinke with 17 points each, Chayce Hall had 12 and Tanner Storer 10. Hawkinson had four of the Battlers' eight 3-pointers.
• Tyler Hohenberger led Faith (19-4) with 25 points. He made six of 14 field goals and made 13 of 17 free throw attempts. He also grabbed 11 rebounds.
• Jarius Halligan had 15 points.

St Thomas More advances at state A

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- St. Thomas More used a balanced offense and tough defense to beat Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 41-25 at the South Dakota Class A boys basketball tournament on Thursday.
• Isaac Kortemeyer had 11 points and nine rebounds and Caden Skinner added 10 points for the Cavaliers (17-6).
• St. Thomas More shot 43 percent while holding Cheyenne-Eagle Butte (19-4) top just 24 percent. The Braves scored more than six points in a quarter just once.
