Sully Buttes takes 3rd in state B

• HURON, S.D. (AP) -- Karlea Stahl had 19 points as Sully Buttes beat Hanson 48-41 in the third-place game at the South Dakota Class B girls basketball tournament on Saturday.
• Stahl was 6 of 9 from the field and 7 of 10 from the line for the Chargers (23-2). Both Sully Buttes and Hanson shot 50 percent from the field.
• Chloe Lamb added 11 points and six rebounds for the Chargers.
• Sydney Dodd and Leah Marsh scored 10 points each for Hanson (22-4).
• SF O'Gorman rolls to 3rd place at state AA
• BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- Sioux Falls O'Gorman blew open a close game in the third quarter and beat Sturgis 63-47 in the third-place game of the South Dakota Class AA girls basketball tournament on Saturday.
• O'Gorman outscored Sturgis 23-9 in the third quarter and maintained a comfortable lead the rest of the way. The Knights (18-8) led 27-22 at the break.
• Claire Howes and Jessica Mieras had 14 points apiece for the Knights, who shot 54 percent while holding Sturgis to 30 percent. Mieras had 10 rebounds, helping O'Gorman to a 35-22 advantage.
• Dalee Stene had 11 points and seven rebounds.
• Kahlie Peterson had 23 points and Lynsey Prosser 17 for Sturgis (18-7).

Mount Vernon-Plankinton takes 5th at state A

• SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) -- Mount Vernon-Plankinton used the free throw line to beat Pine Ridge 60-56 in double overtime Saturday in the fifth-place game at the South Dakota Class A girls basketball tournament.
• The Titans (20-6) attempted 29 more free throws than the Lady Thorpes (21-4) and outscored Pine Ridge 22-4 from the line. Five Pine Ridge players fouled out.
• Becca Glanzer had 28 points to lead all scorers. She made 13 of 14 free throws. Payleen O'Day chipped in 17 points.
• Pine Ridge's Tashianna Hernandez sent the game to overtime tied at 48 with a short jumper from under the basket as time ran out. Glanzer's free throws with 7 seconds in the first OT tied it at 54.
• Shaylene Richard had 15 points and Cassandra Black Horn 12.
