SD lawmakers looking at revenue projections

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Legislature's budget-writing committee is deciding how much money the state will have to spend in the budget year that begins July 1.
• State economists have predicted that tax collections won't bring in as much money as was projected when Gov. Dennis Daugaard proposed his state budget in December.
• The governor's budget office predicts that ongoing general revenue for the current year will be about $8.4 million below earlier projections for the current year and about $6 million lower than expected for the next budget year. The Legislature's budget staff expects revenue will fall short of earlier projections by about $6 million this year and $4 million next year.
• The Legislature's Joint Appropriations Committee will use the revenue estimates to put together a state budget.

Evans lifts IPFW past S. Dakota St. 64-60 in semis

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Mo Evans came off the bench to hit 6 of 7 3-pointers and scored 18 points as second-seeded Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne knocked out two-time defending champion South Dakota State 64-60 Monday in the semifinals of the Summit League tournament.
• The Mastodons (24-9) play top-seed North Dakota State on Tuesday.
• Evans hit all five of his 3's in the first half as IPFW opened a 30-24 lead but the Jackrabbits (19-12) scored the first seven points of the second half.
• SDSU's last lead was 43-42 but the Mastodons responded with eight straight, capped by Evans' sixth trey. The Jackets got back within two but couldn't get over the top.
• The difference was 3-pointers as IPFW went 7 for 18 to 4 of 15 for SDSU, which
