• The U.S. Attorney in Sioux Falls on Thursday announced the sentence of 20-year-old Richard Peneaux. The Mission man was also ordered to five years of probation following his release from prison.
• The charge stems from an August incident. Authorities say Peneaux and the victim were dating at the time. They say Peneaux knew the victim was younger than 16 years old when they had sex.
• A federal grand jury indicted Peneaux in September. He pleaded guilty in December to one count of sexual abuse of a minor.

SD to begin using E15 in state-owned vehicles

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Part of the state's vehicle fleet will begin using a blend of gasoline and ethanol as fuel.
• South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard on Thursday announced that the state will launch a six-month test period during which some vehicles will be fueled on E15.
• The state will use E15 in flex fuel vehicles and some newer non-flex fuel models. Flex fuel vehicles make up more than 58 percent of the state's fleet.
• E15 will be offered at fuel sites in Brookings, Pierre, Rapid City and Sioux Falls.
• Ron Lamberty with the American Coalition for Ethanol says the move will support farmers in the state and the ethanol industry. He says the group believes state employees will find E15 safe, reliable and affordable.

SD man gets 40 months in prison in assault case

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Federal authorities say a central South Dakota man has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for an assault conviction.
• The U.S. Attorney in Sioux Falls on Thursday announced the sentence of 19-year-old Joseph Anthony Little Star. The Eagle Butte man was also ordered to pay a $250,000 fine and will be on probation for three years following his release from prison.
• Little Star pleaded guilty in November to one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
• Authorities contend Little Star in July beat a man and left him unconscious following an argument at a party celebrating Little Star's marriage. Authorities say the discussion ensued because the victim believed Little Star was mistreat
