dice that have letters of the alphabet on them and then try and read the word that is made.   In math, we have been practicing our number recognition skills and one-to-one counting skill.  We also have been learning about the Olympics this month.
• Our recycled snowmen have been on display - we love displaying things we have made for everyone to view. We used shredded paper to make our snowmen's bodies and then topped them with hats, eyes, and buttons!  Every week we make a new animal that begins with our letter sound of the week.  We have some cool raccoons and snakes in the hall.
• As usual, we love to have visitors, please feel free to stop and visit us any time.

• 1st Grade ~ Emily Eichler & Shauna Remily
• Another month is flying by and the first graders are learning so much before our eyes! We have had a very eventful year and are excited to share what we have been learning since our last update.
• Reading class is made up of skill practice and reading amazing stories by awesome authors and illustrators. Our daily skill practice has helped us learn about the long vowel sounds. There are about four or five ways to make these sounds through different letter combinations, which makes it very difficult! We have learned to 103 new high-frequency words so far this year. That is a lot of new words, especially since we still have about three more months of school left! We have been reading a wide array of stories in our reading textbooks. We work on making predictions, finding the main idea and details, drawing conclusions, comparing and contrasting, and retelling every time we read a story. Discussing all of this helps us become great readers!
• Math class has proved fun and challenging for us as we solve story problems, finish patterns, and count dimes, nickels, and pennies. We are currently learning about graphs. It is fun to make and compare graphs.
• Science and social studies have been a blast for us! The students are learning about land, water, and air in science. We will begin making landform models very soon. In social studies we are learning about our changing world. They will also be learning about how schools have evolved from one room to the way they are today. The students sure enjoy science and social studies class!

• 3rd Grade ~ Kristi Anderson & Deb Winburn
•  Thomas Huxley said, "Try to learn something about everything and everything about something." We are in that time of the school year when students should feel quite comfortable utilizing a variety of tools from their belts of knowledge we've been filling all year. They are becoming near experts on a few things.
