call. Finally on the third attempt, Groton controlled the jump ball, but it would be Roncalli scoring first as Hailey Kline made two free throws. Halle Dohman answered for the Tigers to tie the game at two, but then Roncalli's Mikayla Malsam and Kate Heintzman each hit a three-pointer and Emily Bohle and Hailey Kline each hit a two-pointer as the Cavaliers took a 12-2 lead.
• Groton battled back as Lauren Wheeting hit one inside, Courtney Kurtz stole the ball, made the shot, was fouled and made the free throw and a Roncalli turnover turned into a scoring opportunity for Kylie Hawkins. Now it was a three-point game, 12-9, with 2:20 left in the first quarter. Neither team scored for the rest of the quarter.
