• Prosecutor Bonnie Constain told Magistrate Judge John Hinrichs that she was worried about Gastineau possibly leaving the state to go to his mother's home in Arizona. Hinrichs then set the bond at $10,000, which he acknowledged was a high amount for misdemeanor charges.

SD lawmakers look at waterfowl license bill

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- A state legislative panel is looking at a bill that would allow former South Dakota residents to get special waterfowl hunting licenses if they are sponsored by relatives who still live in the state.
• The measure would provide special hunting licenses for nonresidents who were born in South Dakota or who had previously lived and hunted in the state. They would have to hunt with relatives who sponsor them.
• The measure narrowly passed the House of Representatives a couple of weeks ago. The Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee holds a hearing on the bill Tuesday.

Watertown employee screening business closing

• WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) -- A company that provides employee screening, identification and other information services is closing its Watertown operation.
• Radio stations KXLG and KWAT report that about 120 people employed by Verifications will lose their jobs.
• First Advantage Corporation Senior Vice President for Marketing and Communications Kerri Lorch says the company is giving 6 months notice of the closure so employees can plan. It is also providing severance packages and placement assistance to employees.
• The company closed branches in Aberdeen and Mitchell in 2012.
• Watertown Mayor Steve Thorson says employees were made aware of the decision late Monday morning.
