Chamber holds annual meeting

• On Friday, February 7th the Groton Area Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Meeting at Olive Grove Golf Course. Social hour was from 5:30 to 6:30 followed by supper.
• During supper new President Jennifer Dirks spoke on the focus of the Chamber for the upcoming year. Along with the many other community projects the Chamber is involved in, this year a heavy emphasis will be put on helping to get the ball field back into 'tournament' condition. Ball tournaments bring traffic through Groton which equals increased spending at business in town. Steve Geidt spoke on the needs to bring the facility back to its original condition.
• "First Dollar of Profit" was presented to Kellie Townsend, new owner of Olde Bank Floral and new Chamber Board Member. Kellie then spoke about the Farm Family of the Year nomination procedure.
• The Chamber was honored to recognize Dale Ringgenberg as the Groton Volunteer of the Year. Dale has been with the Groton Volunteer Fire Department since 1974 and tirelessly worked to keep the department one of the best in the area. He has also volunteered for many other local organizations and his generosity of time and talent has not been overlooked.  Way to go Dale!

Dale Ringgenberg was chosen as the Volunteer of the Year
