Gonsoir earns National Championship and Reserve National Championship

Brown County had two members represent South Dakota on the State Horse Judging Team that competed in Denver, Colorado at the 4-H Western National Roundup. The South Dakota State Horse Judging team consisted of Joellen Gonsoir and Tyra Leonhardt of Brown County, Cooper Gordon of Spink County and Roni Jankord of Hamlin County. Kristen Gonsoir served as the team's coach. At the Denver competition the team judged five performance classes, three halter classes, and gave four sets of oral reasons. The South Dakota team placed 6th overall, 5th in oral reasons, 6th in performance, and 3rd in halter. Joellen Gonsoir earned several national individual awards. Gonsoir was named the High Point overall individual in performance with a score of 338 out of 350 dropping only three points on the floor and nine points in reasons. Gonsoir was also named the reserve national champion overall horse judge, 3rd high individual oral reasons, and 7th high individual halter.
