Struggling and battling to try and made a basket, it would seven minutes before Groton would make a field goal as the Lady Tigers made only one free-throw in that stretch. By that time, Britton-Hecla had taken a 26-19 lead. Groton closed to within one, 26-25, and again when Kurtz made two free throws with three seconds left, 28-27, to close out the third quarter.
• In the second quarter, Groton made 3 of 15 field goals for 20 percent while Britton-Hecla was 6 of 11 for 55 percent. From the line, Groton was 1 of 1 and Britton-Hecla was 2 of 2. Each team had four turnovers in the second quarter.
• In the third quarter, Groton made 3 of 17 field goals for 18 percent and Britton-Hecla was 4 of 12 for 33 percent. Groton was 1 of 1 from the line and Britton-Hecla attempted no free throws. Each team had two turnovers in the third quarter.
• "I told the girls at halftime, 'Don't play to lose, girls.' We did everything that we wanted to do and I knew our girls were going to fight back. They did and they got the lead back, but we missed a lot of shots under the basket. Those are the little things you have to recognize, especially this time of year."
• Kurtz made a three-pointer early in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 30 and the Lady Tigers took the lead, 32-30, with two free throws by Kurtz. The Braves answered with a three-pointer to retake the lead, 35-32.
