Rapid City strip club loses license for 3 days

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- The Rapid City Council has stripped the city's only strip club of its adult-oriented business license for three days.
• The license suspension for Shotgun Willies begins Tuesday, meaning the club can have adult entertainment again by the weekend.
• The council's 5-2 vote came Monday night after seven hours of discussion. Police had sought a 30-day license suspension, saying the club was cited five times in 2013 and once this year for violating the city's adult-oriented business ordinance. The club's attorney said authorities exaggerated claims.

Propane crisis on Dakotas reservation easing

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- The leader of the Standing Rock Sioux says a propane crisis on the Dakotas reservation is easing due to warmer weather and a drop in the price of the fuel.
• Chairman Dave Archambault (AHR'-sham-boh) says the tribe has ensured that everyone in need of propane has received some. He says the tribe has used $1.7 million in federal money and a $500,000 charitable grant from the Shakopee Mdewakanton (mehd-WAH'-kuh-tuhn) Sioux tribe in Minnesota.
• As many as 5,000 homes on the reservation that straddles the North Dakota-South Dakota border rely on propane. Residents have been struggling to afford higher prices tied to a nationwide shortage of the fuel.
• Archambault says the tribe will continue to seek more federal money to ensure reservation residents make it through the rest of the winter.

SD bill seeks to protect speech on sex orientation

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota lawmakers are considering a measure that seeks to protect people from being sued for expressing their religious beliefs regarding sexual orientation.
• If passed, the bill would put the South Dakota Legislature on record as finding that expressing the viewpoint that any specific sexual orientation is wrong or a sin is free speech protected by the First Amendment. However, it says speech intended to incite or threaten violence is not allowed.
