• We've now completed the fifth week of work in Pierre.  As one of your District 1 Representatives, it is my honor to serve the constituents of northern Brown County, Marshall, Roberts, and Day County in my third term in the House.
• There are many issues which are of importance to District 1 constituents, but perhaps none carry more concern than those which deal with water and property rights. SB 169 is one such bill, as it deals with non-meandering water.  The Committee moved it

out with a hope that there might be a move towards some type of compensation to the land owners. I'll update you as this important legislation moves forward.
• I presented HB 1261 to the House Transportation Committee on Tuesday, Feb. 11. It's come to be known as the Bridge Grant Bill.  It was referred to the Appropriations Committee. As a former County Commissioner, I know the financial burden placed on counties by bridge repair. As I've mentioned in previous columns, counties are required by law to pay for repairs to any township bridges over 20 feet and not on a state-maintained road.  The need is vast. Of the total
