SD college establishes trap shooting club

• YANKTON, S.D. (AP) -- A college in southeast South Dakota has established the first collegiate trap shooting club in the state.
• Mount Marty College in Yankton expects shooting to begin in March.
• The school says the co-ed team will practice and host local competitions at the Jim River Trap Range. Mount Marty's athletic director says the school will gather a 25-member team this month.
• The school says it expects students to show great interest in the new club because hunting is one of South Dakota's largest industries.
• The team's coach will be Rick Kalsow. He is a certified trap shooting coach by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and a certified shotgun coach by the National Rifle Association.
• School officials say the club will promote safety in hunting.
