Groton Boys beat Warner

• The Groton boys improved its season record to 15-3 with a 58-50 non-conference win over Warner. It was part of a double header at Warner on Saturday.
• Groton led at the quarterstops at 12-9, 30-23 and 41-37.
• Mason Madsen had a double feature night with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Kasey Kurtz had 12 points and five assists. Reilly Ell had 11 points followed by Kyler Ell and Spencer Knecht with seen each and Wyatt Lone had two points.
• Groton made 19 of 46 field goals for 41 percent, was 15 of 24 from the line for 63 percent off of Warner's 20 team fouls. Warner had the edge in rebounds, 33-32. The Tigers had 14 turnovers, seven of which were steals while Warner had 15 turnovers, seven of which were steals with two each by Madsen, Knecht and Kyler Ell. Groton had eight assists. Groton had four blocks--two by Lone and one each by Madsen and Knecht. Reilly Ell made three three-pointers while Knecht and Kyler Ell each made one.
• Warner made 20 of 55 field goals for 36 percent, was seven of 13 from the line for 54 percent off of Groton's 15 team fouls. Warner had three assists.
• The Monarchs were led in scoring by Derrek Tuszka with 27 points followed by Michael Rogers with seven, Tyler Rozell and Ethan Westby each had five, Micah Hoellein four and Ryan Heilman added two points.
• Groton won the junior varsity game, 38-30. Groton trailed, 26-25, going into the fourth quarter. The Tigers outscored Warner, 13-4, in the final period. Wyatt Larson led the Tigers with 13 points followed by Lucas Sternhagen with 10, Bennett Shabazz had six, Sean Schuring four, Chance Strom three and Kyler Ell two. Bennett Shabazz had nine of the team's 27 rebounds, Sternhagen had two of the team's six assists and Sternhagen and Seric Shabazz each had three of the team's 12 steals.
