Senator Chuck Welke's Column

• It is Friday and we are finishing our 16th day and our 4th week of the 2014 Legislative Session.  It is going to get crazy around here in the coming days and weeks as we have a lot of bills coming to our committees and to the floor for debate and discussion.  It is a great process and normally yields a good product.
• This week in the Capitol the Fallen Heroes Banners were on display.  The banners contain the pictures and information about the men and women who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan.  One of the faces on the banners is my nephew Joseph Tyler Welke who died in 2004.  From Willow Lake is the banner of Scott A. Saboe who was killed in 2003.  It is a somber walk down the hall as you look at the 35 men and women from SD who gave so much for our country.  We must never forget the sacrifices of these heroes.
